Founded in 1927, Pentecostal Tabernacle (PT) is a Pentecostal church based in Cambridge, MA. We have two campuses - PT North (77 Columbia Street) and PT South (56 Magazine Street). Our mission is to restore broken lives.
POSITION OVERVIEW The Communications Specialist will help the church by managing the internal and external communications of the organization. The individual will also lead the strategy that oversees PT’s messaging across a variety of print, digital, and broadcast mediums. This includes:
PT Weekly Eblast
General Communications
PT Website
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The Communications Specialist reports to the Senior Creative and Worship Director to ensure that all communication projects and activities closely align with the overall strategic vision for the church.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all communication distributed to the congregation and the community, including but not limited to electronic eblasts, announcements, and the church website (www.ptspice.org).
Provide communications support with primary responsibility for the website development in collaboration with the IT department.
Collaborate with ministry leaders and necessary departments to plan marketing efforts around upcoming events and programs.
Design and edit MailChimp newsletters summarizing upcoming activities and events at Pentecostal Tabernacle.
Generate copy for the website, newsletter, and other announcements.
Collaborate with graphic designers and the social media coordinator to create and format digital and print media.
Process OneChurch Communications Request Form submissions, add new projects to the planning queue, and respond to ministry leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRED SKILLS
Bachelor's degree or three or more years of directly relevant professional experience in non-profit, educational, or broadcast communications, journalism, multimedia, and web development; or related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized/administrative skills
Project Management and team management experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Suites (Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc.)
Experience working with email management apps (e.g., MailChimp)
Experience with Google Analytics & SEO
LOCATION/SCHEDULE This is a part-time hybrid role based in Cambridge, MA. The Communications Specialist will work 20 hours per week.
