Clinical Epidemiology Unit Chief | Public Health Medical Officer III (Epidemiology)
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking a Clinical Epidemiology Unit Chief to supervise a multidisciplinary team in implementing and improving CDPH’s seasonal and novel respiratory virus surveillance and response systems. The successful candidate will lead initiatives to utilize surveillance data to make public health recommendations and evaluate interventions, identify opportunities to integrate new surveillance methods and information systems, and provide leadership and operational support in outbreak response activities for emerging and novel respiratory viruses. Responsibilities include: Supervising a multidisciplinary team to implement and improve CDPH’s seasonal and novel respiratory virus surveillance and response systems Leading initiatives to utilize surveillance data to make public health recommendations and evaluate interventions Identifying opportunities to integrate new surveillance methods and information systems Providing leadership and operational support in outbreak response activities for emerging and novel respiratory viruses Providing expert consultation on respiratory virus epidemiology to other State programs and to local health departments Requirements include: Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance, or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners Valid specialty Board certification prior to appointment The CDPH is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
