Major Gift and Corporate Relations Officer . This position is responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective major gift donors and planned giving. This involves prospective research and developing effective solicitation strategies as well as stewarding donors throughout the major giving process. This individual will also work with our

Institutional Advancement team

and Foundation board members to coordinate and execute long-term fundraising initiatives to various constituent groups including alumni, corporations, and friends of the University. Essential Responsibilities 50%

Create, lead, develop and coordinate fundraising activities designed to increase both the number and level of major gifts and/or planned gifts to the Governors State the number and level of major gifts and/or planned gifts to the Governors State University Foundation. Use Slate for Advancement and other database software to monitor and track progress of fundraising goals, manage constituent base, report on progress, and demonstrate movement management 25%

Provide leadership, direction, and fundraising support to assigned campus entities (i.e., Colleges, Arts, Athletics, Library) to increase both the number and level of major gifts and/or planned to give to the Foundation that benefit their entity. Identify, assess, analyze, and design appropriate strategies for approaching prospects and donors and making the important match between donors' philanthropic interests and the entities' needs. This could include providing support, coaching, assistance, and/or strategic evaluation of events, programs, donor cultivation, etc. 20%

Plan and implement effective outreach and cultivation activities to enhance prospect identification and move solicitation and stewardship processes for prospect identification and move solicitation and stewardship processes forward. 5%

Other related duties as assigned.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, communications, education, marketing, or related field. Five (5) years of experience in fundraising, sales, constituent management, or related field Competencies

Must be able to act with urgency, manage high pressure timelines, observe best practices, and act in innovative ways to build relationships with alumni, corporate, business, and civic leaders. Must be able to effectively communicate information and ideas both orally and in writing. Must act professionally and maintain the integrity and reputation of the University. Must exhibit an elevated level of diplomacy, a positive, can-do attitude, and tact in interpersonal interactions to effectively managing relations with board members, alumni, and donors. Must be able to facilitate conversations and meetings to gain opportunities. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Effective in building working relations with existing University personnel. Excellent team player and collaborator.
