Profee Coder with at least 1 year of Urology coding experience

to join our team.

Preferred experience in Urology and Gynecology Oncology surgeries and coding, knowledge and experience with academic coding/guidelines.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Evaluates medical records, provides clinical and surgical abstraction, and assigns appropriate clinical diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with nationally recognized coding guidelines.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

1) Analyzes medical information from medical records and codes diagnostic and procedural information per national guidelines and reimbursement requirements. Clarifies missing information with providers, ensures timely and accurate coding, and addresses NCCI edits as appropriate. Reconcile charges as required.

2) Abstracts diagnoses and procedure codes into the EMR; obtains missing information and creates complete records, coordinating with clinicians as needed.

3) Provides quality assurance for medical records, ensuring compliance with coding rules and regulations (CMS, OIG, HCFA, Medicaid) and professional standards.

4) Compiles daily/monthly reports and supports data analysis as assigned.

5) Works independently under regular supervision with expert knowledge of ICD/CPT codes and guidelines; seeks guidance for interpretation when needed.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED or equivalent work/education in medical record keeping; may include an Associate's degree in a related health care field.

Requires at least one of the following: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC-A, RHIA, or RHIT, active with AHIMA or AAPC. Certification may include a general area of specialty.

Six months of professional coding experience or related healthcare experience across diverse facilities. Demonstrated knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles as per AHIMA coding competencies.

Must be able to work effectively in a remote setting, using common office programs, coding software and abstracting systems.

Preferred Qualifications Specialty Certification; additional related education/experience
