About The Role
Vox Media is seeking an entrepreneurial and analytically-driven Director of Podcast Subscription and Memberships to independently build and scale our direct-to-consumer podcast membership programs. This role will own the end-to-end membership strategy and operations across our podcast portfolio, combining data-driven optimization with community-focused marketing and experiences. The ideal candidate balances deep subscription expertise and analytical rigor with strong community-building instincts, operating autonomously while collaborating effectively with marketing teams and show teams / talent to create compelling membership experiences that drive both engagement and sustainable revenue growth.
What You’ll Do
Own comprehensive subscription strategy and execution across all podcast properties, including platform evaluation, pricing optimization, benefit design, and retention/renewal programs
Serve as internal expert on subscription platforms, maintaining vendor relationships and identifying new monetization opportunities as platforms evolve
Independently manage subscription program launches from concept to execution, coordinating technical setup, content strategy, and promotional campaigns while ensuring seamless subscriber onboarding experiences
Drive subscriber acquisition through data-driven growth strategies, including funnel optimization, promotional campaigns, and cross-show subscriber development initiatives. Own marketing calendar and partner cross-functionally to get alignment on key promotions and deliverables
Analyze subscription performance metrics including acquisition, retention, churn, and lifetime value, delivering actionable insights and recommendations to show teams and leadership through regular reporting
Collaborate with our audience and marketing teams to help drive conversion across engaged and loyal fans
Collaborate with talent and production teams to develop compelling subscription benefits, exclusive content strategies, and subscriber engagement programs that maximize retention and reduce churn
Coordinate subscriber-focused live events and exclusive experiences that strengthen community engagement and drive subscription value, working with internal experiential teams as needed
What You’ll Bring
4-6 years of experience in digital subscriptions, creator economy platforms, marketing, or direct-to-consumer business development with proven track record of growing revenue
Deep expertise with major podcast subscription platforms and emerging creator economy tools, including technical implementation and optimization capabilities
Strong analytical skills with experience using subscription metrics to drive strategic decisions and growth initiatives
Exceptional project management abilities with demonstrated success operating independently while managing multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
Experience working with creative talent and production teams, with ability to translate business objectives into compelling subscriber experiences
Data-driven approach to growth with proficiency in analytics platforms and subscription business KPIs, combined with entrepreneurial mindset and passion for podcast medium

Pay Transparency
Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000 USD
