The Certified Medical Assistant assists Physicians and Nurses to meet the health care needs of patients.
CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSITANT
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent. Certified by professional organization in the state. Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements. Acute care experience preferred. CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSITANT
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Takes vital signs, height and weight. Assists with PPDs and EKGs. Draws blood. Measures and records intake and output. Assists with patient treatments such as dressing changes, decubitus ulcer, and tracheostomy care. Adheres to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures. Schedules appointments. Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Is proficient with CPR and recognizes need to implement. Receive re-certification training annually. Assists in cleaning, sterilizing and securing of equipment. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
