Actively interviewing for a Phlebotomist to join a diagnostic client in West Columbia, SC.
Join a dynamic team where you will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontaminating equipment. You will also update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection methods such as urine or fecal collection.
- Explain the specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Understand and follow all physician orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure proper labeling.
- Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to callers.
Essential Skills
- 1-2+ years of recent phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in specimen processing and venipuncture.
- Ability to draw 25-30 patients daily.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of phlebotomy experience.
- Previous customer service experience.
Work in an OBGYN doctor's office from Monday to Thursday, 8am-5pm and Friday, 8am-1pm. You will work independently, drawing 25-30 patients daily and processing specimens. Enjoy a structured 2-week training period, with the first week focusing on computer skills and the second on hands-on training.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of West Columbia, South Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr.
