POSITION PURPOSE
Screed Operator with specific experience operating asphalt screed machines. Operators perform duties that may include operating the roller and other heavy equipment to apply asphalt products as defined by each job/project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform duties with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.
- Operate the roller and other heavy equipment for paving projects.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment and machinery.
- Coordinate and work with contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to complete the job.
- Serve as a front-line Company representative and provide excellent service to customers and the public.
- Work on the ground as needed.
- Work quickly, productively, and safely to meet production goals as directed by the Foreman, Superintendent, or Production Manager.
- Follow the daily production schedule and activities as directed by Foreman/Superintendent.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures and participate in safety meetings and training.
- Ensure job-site safety and traffic control in coordination with Foreman or Crew Leader.
- Communicate effectively with other equipment operators, truck drivers, and laborers.
- Report problems or equipment malfunctions to supervision or shop personnel.
- May set up and tear down equipment; maintain a clean job site and secure tools daily.
- Use hand tools and equipment such as rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows; perform general labor as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.

- This position is safety-sensitive and complies with the company drug and alcohol policy and OSHA regulations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Operate vehicles and trailers safely and in compliance with laws
- Operate equipment safely per manufacturer specifications
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Wear required PPE in various situations
- Lift up to 50 pounds; climb, bend, kneel, and lift overhead
- Possible exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, gases, dust, noise, and moving machinery
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Work Experience and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Six months to one year related experience preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak English preferred
- Willingness to travel to any and all job sites (including staying away from home if necessary)
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
- Current driver's license preferred
- Clean motor-vehicle record if operating a Company vehicle
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check
