Duties & Responsibilities

Mastery of Subject Matter

  • Demonstrates knowledge of academic, career readiness, and life skills content.
  • Stays current in the field through professional development and training in adult and continuing education.
  • Connects instructional content to practical, real-world applications.
  • Uses technology and instructional resources to enhance learning.

Teaching Performance

  • Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.
  • Employs varied strategies, including hands-on and community-based learning.
  • Develops and updates syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with ACE objectives.
  • Encourages the development of communication, problem-solving, and employability skills.

Evaluation of Student Learning

  • Establishes measurable learning outcomes.
  • Monitors and evaluates student progress using fair and consistent methods.
  • Maintains accurate attendance and performance records.
  • Provides timely, constructive feedback.
  • Submits reports and documentation by established deadlines

Support of College Policies and Procedures

  • Teaches ACE classes at designated on-campus or community-based locations.
  • Maintains regular communication with the CCR Director.
  • Ensures confidentiality of student information.
  • Uses college facilities, materials, and equipment responsibly.

Contribution to the Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs

  • Supports the College's mission, goals, and long-range plans.
  • Assists with marketing, recruitment, and retention of ACE students.
  • Engages in community activities that enhance ACE program visibility.

Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities

  • Participates in meetings, professional development, and training as required.
  • Responds promptly to requests from administrators.
  • Contributes to curriculum development and program improvement.
  • Supports colleagues and promotes collaboration.
  • Participates in graduation ceremonies and ACE-related events.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in education, Special Education, Adult Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution (preferred but not required).
  • Experience: Minimum of one year teaching or working with adults in an educational setting. Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities strongly preferred. Experience in K-12 special education strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver instruction that addresses diverse learning needs.
  • Availability for morning and/or evening assignments as scheduled.
  • 8-22 contact hours per week, based on program need.

Working Conditions

  • Typical classroom and community-based instructional environments.
  • Frequent use of computers and instructional technology.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs., bending, reaching, and travel between instructional sites.

Position Type: Part-time

The Academy of Continuing Excellence (ACE) Instructor position will open to receive applications on Thursday, September 25, 2025. It will remain open until filled.
