Job Details

Position: Janitor

Responsibilities: Janitors are responsible for performing all-purpose cleaning and preservation of an assigned area. The assigned area could be a building, hospital, warehouse, shopping mall or other facility. Tasks are not definite and vary; staff must be flexible in performing duties as assigned by a Supervisor.

Essential Functions, Qualifications, and Physical Demands

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice and may include all or some of the physical demands listed.

Physical Requirements include stooping, standing, climbing, and frequently lifting and/or moving a minimum of 50 lbs of office and facilities equipment and trash, and the ability to safely use equipment provided. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Sitting, walking, standing, bending (neck), bending waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, twisting (neck), twisting (waist), and talking or hearing.
• Repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, handling or feeling objects, tools, or controls; fine manipulation; pushing; pulling; reaching above or below shoulder level.
• Lifting and carrying objects from floor, table, and shelves; endurance for indoor/outdoor work and exposure to weather extremes.
• Working around equipment and machinery; walking on uneven ground; exposure to noise, dust, gas, fumes, cleaning products, and noise.
• Working with biohazards such as bloodborne pathogens, sewage, hospital waste, and others.
• Occasionally to frequently lifting 25 pounds and exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects.
• Specific vision abilities as noted above.
