Waste Water Treatment Operator Nights Job at VALLEY MILK LLC in Turlock

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Waste Water Treatment Operator to join our team at Valley Milk. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate, maintain, and monitor the plant’s waste water treatment system to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, company standards, and sustainability goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of waste water treatment processes and experience in the food or dairy manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Waste Water Treatment Systems: Oversee the daily operation of the dairy’s waste water treatment facilities, including primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment processes.
• Monitor Water Quality: Perform routine sampling and testing of influent, effluent, and treatment system parameters.
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Monitor the performance of pumps, tanks, filters, aeration equipment, and chemical dosing systems.
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the waste water treatment processes comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
• Manage Waste Water Treatment Chemicals: Handle and store chemicals used in the treatment process in compliance with safety protocols.
• Record Keeping and Documentation: Accurately document all operational activities, including equipment performance, system adjustments, maintenance actions, and test results.
• Promote Environmental Sustainability: Contribute to sustainability efforts by identifying opportunities for water reuse, waste minimization, and energy-efficient practices.
• Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate with other plant departments to ensure seamless integration of waste water treatment processes with overall plant operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or certification in environmental science, industrial wastewater treatment, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: At least 1–3 years of experience in waste water treatment, preferably within a food or dairy manufacturing environment.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of waste water treatment processes, including physical, chemical, and biological treatment methods.
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to keep accurate records.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
• Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions and in a plant environment that may be wet or noisy.

Working Conditions

• The role involves working in a wastewater treatment facility within a dairy manufacturing plant, with exposure to chemicals, wastewater, and industrial machinery.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and respiratory protection, as required.
