Responsibilities
- The Unit Secretary is directly accountable to the Director of Med/Surg, and indirectly to the Charge Nurse and/or House Supervisor.
- Performs indirect patient care and facilitates the communication needs of the department.
- Transcribes physician orders from records (in the absence of CPOE and EMR) with notation and signature by nursing staff.
- Prepares and maintains records for Emergency Room and completes daily patient charts with necessary forms.
- Orders supplies for the unit and supports nursing staff with duties involving indirect patient care.
Qualifications
- Education and Work Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience required for all new hires (effective April 2014).
- Basic dysrhythmia training on hire.
- Medical terminology preferred.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

The current compensation range for this role is $21.00 to $22.66 per hour, with starting pay determined at hire based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
