Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter located in Cedar Rapids, IA, with some work-from-home options. The ASL Interpreter will be responsible for facilitating communication between deaf or hard of hearing individuals and hearing individuals through ASL in various settings, such as medical, educational, legal, and corporate environments. The interpreter will accurately convey messages, ensure understanding, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the needs of deaf and hard of hearing individuals
• Excellent interpreting skills in diverse settings, such as medical, educational, legal, and corporate environments
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment
• Certification from The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) is preferred
• Previous interpreting experience is a plus
• Flexibility to adapt to various interpreting situations and requirements
