ITS is working with an industry leader to find a Machining Manufacturing Engineer. This position is responsible for activities related to engineering, cell layout, and process setup for CNC, Lathe, Robodrill, and Milling operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Work on assigned launch activities in conjunction with the Program Manager.
- Ensure the design of new lines is safe and meets ergonomic requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Operations on design and layout with the operator in mind.
- Minimize square footage and maximize sales per square foot.
- Develop thorough capital and tooling requirements for quotations of new business.
- Approve prints and changes for new programs.
- Complete feasibility studies on new quotations, highlight risks, and work with the customer to resolve them.
- Source capital equipment and tooling for new programs.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Set up processes to meet scrap and efficiency targets.
- Establish and maintain a capital and tooling budget and meet targets.
- Ensure that the lines are launched within the approved budget.
- Interact with customers on launch issues, participate in customer APQP meetings.
- Lead Run at Rate activities, ensuring successful completion.
- Maintain thorough documentation for manufacturing lines, including training and job instructions.
- Work to minimize scrap on future and existing programs.
- Execute engineering changes as needed.
- Update existing lines for capacity increases and VA/VE activities.
- Maintain plant and line layout.
- Develop and update PFMEA.
- Work closely with quality to resolve manufacturing issues and develop control plans.
- Write work instructions.
- Participate in the changeover process.
- Identify opportunities to speed up changeover processes.
- Maintain a high level of organization.
- Work with the team to establish 5S criteria for cells.
- Some travel may be required to support customer locations.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Experience / Education
- Pass pre-employment screening (e.g., drug test, physical, and background test).
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and AutoCAD.
- Experience in Hot and Cold Forging.
- Strong understanding of Milling and Lathe operations and programming.
- Flow Forming experience is a plus.
- Understanding of takt time and capacity planning.
- Understanding of automation (Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Siemens, ASE).
- Understanding of 5S and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Must be innovative, dedicated to self-improvement, and willing to try new things.
- Plex Experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related experience.
