Location: Pontiac, MI

Responsibilities

• Operate facility forklifts and/or loaders to assist with material movement at the recycling facility in accordance with company and OSHA safety standards.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and submit paperwork to the Recycling Facility Manager daily.
• Communicate effectively with other facility personnel regarding material conditions.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following the company safety program and maintaining safe tipping floor areas; stay aware of changing traffic conditions and other equipment movement.
• Report immediately any accident or injuries to the facility supervisor and/or facility manager, after assisting the injured if required; complete a report within 24 hours as required by state law.
• Assist in production tasks as needed (e.g., dumping cages, moving containers) that require a forklift or loader.
• Minimize feed downtime by keeping material on the belts.
• Report after each shift the following data: actual time worked, forklift/loader inspection sheets, bale preparation before loading, and loading quality bales into outbound containers.
• Monitor equipment to identify repairs and coordinate timely maintenance.
• Refill oil and coolants as required to maintain correct fluid levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, brief correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
