Forklift Operator role at Premium Peanut

Location: 203 Knowles Street, Santee, SC, 29142, United States

Summary

Operate powered industrial trucks (sit-downs, standups, and reach trucks) to load and unload one-ton totes of peanuts into and out of storage racks up to five layers high. Move materials to and from storage areas into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities. Remove pallets of product from the production line and place pallets into predetermined sections of the warehouse or load onto trailers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects trailers before loading.
  • Ensures pallet quantity and correct product is loaded; documents on bills of lading before placing pallets into trailers.
  • Receives raw materials from inbound trucks and ensures documentation is accurate; signs for receipt of goods.
  • Ensures production line is stocked with raw materials.
  • Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices and maintains a clean, organized work area.
  • Safety is a primary responsibility of the forklift operator.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by Transportation Team Lead.
  • Operates lifting device to move loads; positions forks and transporting loads to designated areas.
  • Loads and unloads totes of peanuts from storage rack systems in ambient and cold storage warehouses.
  • Unloads and stacks material; inventories materials on the work floor and supplies materials as needed.
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
  • Lubricates truck, recharges batteries, and maintains fueling or gas systems as required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; minimum one-year forklift operation experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic and unit conversions; understand rates, ratios, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow detailed but straightforward instructions and work with a few concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift license.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to perform the essential functions. Requires regular use of hands, standing, reaching, and talking/hearing. Occasional walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
