The Senior Sustaining Engineer is responsible for leveraging change management and good problem solving principles to plan and lead strategic projects, primarily associated with operating margin expansion and business continuity. They will specifically be responsible for managing the engineering portion of the welding certification program
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
- Manage and maintain the work associated with the welding control portion of the Quality Control Manual, including Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), Procedure Qualification Record (PQR), Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ), In-process welding inspections, and Welding Material Control in accordance with ASME BPVC Section IX.
- Monitor welding productivity, troubleshoot welding issues, recommend and implement welding process improvements, and overall optimize welding performance
- Solve complex problems, with a focus on writing and executing Qualification Master Plans (QMP’s) on microelectronic components, by taking on a new perspective from experience. Exercise good judgement based on data
- Execute and lead engineering solutions to drive operational margin expansion
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
- Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS) certification minimum, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Engineer (CWENG) preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Welding Engineer, or similar) and track record demonstrating applicable work experience (typically > 4 year in similar work force role) in a similar welding certification role.
- Actively participates in structured problem solving (DMAIC, PSP, VRK, etc.) and makes decisions based on data and statistical analytics
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in both oral and written forms at any level within the organization
- Identifies and follows organized work structure and project management that establishes actions, dates and accountability (daily management, Project VPM, etc.).
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Travel up to 10%
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 50lb
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- SAP or similar ERP system
- Minitab, JMP, or similar data analysis and statistical tools
- Strong Microsoft Excel and presentation skills
- CNC machining experience (programming, troubleshooting)
