Job Description
Experienced Full Time Senior Gardener required for private gardens set around a beautiful country house, located in North Yorkshire.
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic gardener to join the small team, who can match their energy keeping the gardens immaculate throughout the year.
The successful person must be able to take instruction, but also be able to use their own initiative when required. Someone with a 'can do' attitude, who knows what needs doing and when, who can carry out tasks efficiently, with support from the owners.
The Position requires:
- Hands on general garden maintenance, such as lawn care (mowing), pruning, hedge cutting, strimming, mulching etc
- Maintenance of all plantings, weed control etc
- Maintenance on all lawns, wildflower areas and ponds
- Seasonal bulb and pot planting, seed collection and propagation
- Assisting with vegetable, fruit and flower production in the walled garden
- Assistance with the woodland
- Maintenance of the irrigation system
- Maintenance of drives, paths, tracks and terraces
- Composting of waste on site, and maintenance of equipment
- General maintenance on the wider estate
- Maintenance of garden furniture
- Management of external contractors as required
The Person:
- Reliable, punctual with an excellent work ethic
- Enthusiastic with a genuine passion for horticulture
- RHS qualified to at least level 2 and a minimum of 3 years experience as a senior gardener on private estates
- Will have excellent horticultural knowledge and experience in plant propagation and kitchen gardening
- Will be physically fit, with the ability to safely operate large garden machinery and carry out some heavy work at times
- Will hold chain saw and spray certificates
- A car driver with own transport
- Polite and easy to have around
A competitive salary will be offered to the successful person who can work Monday to Friday - 40 hours each week with occasional weekend availability as required.
