The Group Fitness Instructor is a part-time position responsible for planning and instructing group exercise class(es) to all levels and abilities.

Overview

Under the general supervision of the Wellness Manager, the Group Fitness Instructor will plan and instruct group exercise classes, demonstrate appropriate exercise techniques and skills, and ensure instruction is current with industry standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Arrive 15 minutes before class to prepare equipment and music.
• Demonstrate exercise techniques and skills to participants.
• Ensure instruction is current with industry standards.
• Inspect facility and equipment for safety.
• Report accidents/incidents and complete reports in a timely manner.
• Document participants and submit accurate records.
• Instruct assigned classes and make arrangements for substitutes when needed.
• Maintain certifications and promote the program in a positive manner.
• Demonstrate customer service standards and follow safety guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Strong knowledge of fitness programming and human physiology.
• Ability to communicate with and instruct adults.
• Attention to detail and organization skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns.

Education And Experience

• Certifications in ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM, or NSCA required.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR & AED certification within three months of hire.

Special Considerations

• Subject to modified/flexible work schedule.
• Subject to inside and outdoor environmental conditions.
• Ability to occasionally lift light weight objects.
