Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• One year of recent CNA experience
• Valid CNA registration in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) or CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Other certifications may be required depending on facility requirements

Summary

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and works alongside nurses and healthcare teams to support patients with their daily needs, such as bathing, dressing, and mobility, while monitoring patient conditions.

Essential Work Functions

• Record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration)
• Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Provide mobility assistance (repositioning, transfers, ambulation)
• Assist with feeding and meal support for dietary needs
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
• Offer emotional support and companionship to patients and families
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care and observations
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and healthcare regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Required Essential Skills

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; proficient in computer skills
• Physical abilities: stationary or moving, able to move equipment (50-100 lbs), push/pull, and bend
• Interpersonal: work effectively with a variety of personnel with a positive attitude
• Technical/Motor: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and assist with procedures and equipment
• Mental: able to handle frequent public contact, meet deadlines, and work under supervision as needed
• Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication
