At Lilly’s Biotechnology Center in San Diego, we discover medicines by integrating biology with innovative capabilities in RNA and computational sciences. We collaborate with teams across discovery and development to advance RNA oligonucleotide drug candidates for the next generation of RNA therapies. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with a strong research track record in mRNA regulation and NGS applications to join our Genetic Medicine team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mRNA reporters and engineered cell lines for massively parallel reporter assays.
  • Routinely perform cell transfection, mRNA purification, and mRNA quantitation.
  • Prepare samples for NGS applications (RNA-seq, PolyA-seq, 5’RACE).
  • Independently problem-solve in the laboratory to overcome challenges and improve workflows.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and manage inventory/consumables.
  • Visualize, summarize, and present results to team members.
  • Work with CROs to execute research studies.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, biology, or related field with experience in post-transcriptional regulation
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Experience with RNA profiling and NGS tools (CLIP, RNA-seq, Ribo-seq), massively parallel reporter assays, cell-based high-throughput screens
  • Experience with cell-line engineering and recombinant nucleic acid methodologies
  • Experience working with CROs
  • Deep subject matter expertise in mRNA regulation, RNA binding proteins, NGS-based approaches, cell-line engineering, and related areas
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal skills, and a team-player mindset

Compensation & Benefits

Actual compensation will depend on education, experience, skills, and location. Anticipated wage: $133,500 - $217,800. Full-time employees are eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefits program (401(k), medical/dental/vision, life insurance, paid time off, and well-being benefits).
