- Location: 39 Connors Lane, Riverton, NS B0K 1S0
- Work location: On the road
- Salary: $0.48 commission per mile / 40 to 70 hours per week. Minimum wage is guaranteed
- Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time
Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Professionalism in customer service
- Load and unload goods
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
Requirements
- Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks)
Experience and Specialization
- Knowledge of accident or incident reports
- Bill of lading
- Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
- Maintenance and repair reports
- Trip reports
Equipment and Travel
- Refrigerated trucks
- Tractor-trailer
- Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
- Trip recorder (on-board computer)
- Local, national, and regional travel
Security and Safety
- Basic security clearance
