Overview

Pay: $26.00- $29.00 per hour DOE
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a certified electrician apprenticeship program, possession of a journeyman-level certification or exam documentation, or a minimum of five (5) years of equivalent hands-on experience in an industrial electrical setting.
- Proficiency in the use of all standard hand and power tools.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues on industrial equipment.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to manage files, use email, and operate standard office software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of local electrical codes, NFPA standards, and OSHA regulations.
- Understanding of and compliance with electrical safety procedures, including NFPA 70E and the National Electrical Code.
- Ability to perform standard electrical calculations related to load requirements and equipment specifications.
- Physically capable of:
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate and perform work on aerial platforms, scaffolding, and other elevated work surfaces.
- Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklifts, platform lifts, and aerial boom lifts.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate automatic transmission vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a utility plant environment (power generation, water treatment, wastewater treatment, etc.).
- Journeyman Electrician or other relevant certifications.
- Experience with PLC programming and HMI systems.
- Proficiency in predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic testing).
- Experience working with voltages above 1000V.
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA 70E and 70B.
- Strong understanding of Lock Out–Tag Out procedures.
- Ability to plan and install electrical components and conduit systems in compliance with NEC.
- Effective time management and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems in the Central Utility Plant, Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant, and common areas.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues on a wide range of industrial equipment.
- Install, maintain, and remove electrical conductors, raceways, and equipment such as motors, transformers, switchboards, HVAC units, and lighting systems.
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
- Follow detailed switching procedures and coordinate power outages involving medium voltage switchgear and 15KV circuit breakers.
- Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, VFDs, ATS, and instrumentation wiring.
- Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts, and platform lifts.
- Maintain accurate service reports, deficiency logs, and work orders.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA standards, and Lock Out–Tag Out procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal clients and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to service equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift you must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
