Overview
Los Alamos County, NM seeks a skilled Human Resources Manager reporting to the County Manager. The position oversees recruitment and employment, compensation and benefits, management education, training and development, employee relations, risk management and workplace safety, labor relations, policy formulation and implementation, and performance development and evaluation programs to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Serves as or appoints staff liaisons to the Personnel Board. Provides high-level administrative support to the county's leadership.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and review departmental activities and all human resources operations and services.
- Oversee recruitment and employment; compensation and benefits; management education; training and development; employee relations; risk management and workplace safety; labor relations; policy development and implementation; and performance development and evaluation programs.
- Provide comprehensive support to the county leadership and act as staff liaison to the Personnel Board.
- Maintain compliance with established laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Eight (8) years of HR management experience across major HR functions; at least six (6) years in a supervisory leadership role.
- Experience in collective bargaining, preferably municipal.
- Professional HR certification preferred (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or IPMA-HR).
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities; experience building supervisory training programs and personnel rules/regulations.
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $128,520.00/yr – $209,275.00/yr. A generous benefits and retirement package is offered; details are available at Los Alamos County Employee Benefits.
