We’re hiring a People Generalist (Human Resources Generalist) at Together Credit Union. This role supports team members and leaders across the credit union by handling everyday HR needs—onboarding, recruiting, employee relations, policy updates, and compliance tasks. It’s a hands-on position with variety, where you’ll help keep processes running smoothly, find easier ways to get work done, and bring fresh ideas to how we connect with our teams. You’ll also help plan engaging activities that build relationships and make Together Credit Union a great place to work.

Job Details

Job Title: People Generalist (Human Resources Generalist)

Reports To: Manager, People and Culture

Positions Supervised: N/A

FLSA Status: Exempt

Role Summary

The People Generalist supports the team member experience by carrying out core programs and processes within the People & Culture team. The role leads onboarding, supports employee relations and performance management, applies policies with care and compliance, recruits top talent, and coordinates initiatives that strengthen engagement and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Team Member Support & Engagement: Serve as a primary point of contact for People & Culture needs, addressing questions and concerns with fairness, consistency, and confidentiality; support employee relations by gathering information, documenting findings, coordinating next steps, and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Onboarding & Recruitment: Guide the new team member experience from pre-onboarding through orientation; manage full life-cycle recruitment including posting jobs, screening resumes, conducting interviews, offering and onboarding for various roles.
  • Policies & Compliance: Draft, update, and communicate changes to the Team Member Handbook and People & Culture policies; ensure compliance with legal and company standards; maintain required compliance records (I-9 and employment eligibility verification).
  • Programs & Processes: Execute administrative tasks for performance management, terminations, and talent management; maintain documentation such as job descriptions, org charts, and training records; administer leaves of absence and accommodation requests with care and compliance.
  • Process Improvement & Data: Track and analyze metrics (e.g., turnover, engagement scores) and share insights with People & Culture leadership; document process updates and recommend improvements; stay current on HR practices and employment law to bring fresh insights.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources, leadership, or a related role

Preferred

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar)
  • 3+ years of experience in a multi-function HR role
  • 1+ year of experience administering FMLA and accommodations under the ADA
  • 1+ year of experience with full lifecycle recruiting for niche or senior-level roles
  • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry
  • Experience with Paycor

  • Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • Time management and prioritization to complete responsibilities on time and balance competing demands
  • Integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality in all employment matters
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations and ability to apply them in practice
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn HR technology platforms (HRIS, ATS, talent management systems)

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment; regular use of online tools and collaboration platforms
  • General office setting when onsite
  • Occasional travel to branch locations, vendor sites, or other business-related locations
  • Attendance at offsite meetings, events, or conferences as needed

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to work at a computer in a stationary position for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to occasionally carry light materials (e.g., laptop, presentation materials)
