Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our General Surgery team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality patient care across various settings. This role requires the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals while managing a diverse patient population.
M-F schedule. Office-based.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and assessments of patients. Mainly in General and Vascular Surgery Specialties
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, including ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies.
- Administer medications, including IV infusion, injections, and other treatments as necessary.
- Provide acute care management for patients with complex medical conditions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in various settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and assisted living facilities.
- Educate patients and families on health management, disease prevention, and wellness strategies.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives to enhance patient care practices.
Skills
Candidates should possess a combination of the following skills:
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, eClinicalWorks.
- Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or urgent care settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and workers' compensation law.
- Clinical competencies including suturing, phlebotomy, IV insertion, catheterization, and airway management.
- Familiarity with specialized areas such as gastroenterology, geriatrics, pediatrics, infectious disease care, behavioral health, pain management, hospice & palliative medicine.
- Experience with esthetic procedures like botulinum toxin treatment and dermal fillers is a plus.
- Strong assessment skills for acute pain management and triage situations.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including children and seniors; experience in home care or nursing home settings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques.
