Annual Salary: $125k $160k (varies depending on years of experience)
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our client s Gastroenterology (GI) practice. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients with gastrointestinal conditions in both outpatient and clinical settings. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a team of gastroenterologists and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed patient histories, physical examinations, and assessments for patients with GI-related conditions.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders, including GERD, IBS, IBD, liver disease, and more.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as bloodwork, imaging, and endoscopic procedures, to guide patient management.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and best practices.
- Assist with or perform minor procedures, if credentialed, such as paracentesis or management of feeding tubes.
- Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, ensuring proper education and pre-procedure care.
- Provide education to patients and families about gastrointestinal conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.
- Counsel patients on lifestyle modifications, diet, and medication adherence to improve GI health.
- Collaborate with supervising physicians and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, dietitians, and other specialists as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with practice protocols, standards of care, and state/federal regulations.
Requirements:
- Master s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in New Jersey.
- Experience in gastroenterology or a related specialty preferred but not required; new graduates with strong interest in GI are welcome to apply.
- Experience in ordering and interpreting GI-specific diagnostic tests.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative team.
