About Saronic Technologies
Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing
defense autonomy at sea , developing advanced solutions that enhance maritime operations for the U.S. Department of Defense through autonomous and intelligent platforms. Our work directly impacts the future of naval operations, delivering state-of-the-art autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) for mission-critical environments.
The Role We are seeking a
Perception Engineer
to design, develop, and implement the perception systems that enable our ASVs to navigate and make critical decisions in complex maritime environments. You'll work on the forefront of technology, applying computer vision, machine learning, and sensor fusion expertise to create robust, real-time perception systems for autonomy at sea.
What You'll Do Algorithm Development : Build and optimize computer vision and machine learning algorithms for detection, classification, tracking, and scene understanding. Sensor Fusion : Integrate data from cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS, and other sensors into a unified perception stack. Real-Time Processing : Implement pipelines that deliver rapid, accurate perception feedback to vessel control systems. MLOps : Work with data annotation teams to create and manage labeled datasets for model training and validation. Performance Optimization : Tune perception algorithms for low-latency inference and efficient compute usage. Testing & Validation : Validate perception systems in simulation and real-world maritime environments. Collaboration : Work cross-functionally with hardware, controls, and navigation engineers to integrate perception modules. Research & Innovation : Stay current on advances in computer vision, ML, and sensor technologies to continually improve capabilities. Qualifications
Strong programming skills in
Python, C++, and CUDA . Experience with
deep learning frameworks
(PyTorch, TensorFlow). Understanding of filters and their applications in perception systems. Basic proficiency in
Rust . Bonus: Background in maritime or autonomous vehicle projects. Bonus: Experience in signal processing, sensor fusion, or low-latency tracking pipelines. Benefits
Comprehensive
medical, dental, and vision insurance
(100% covered for employees, 80% for dependents). Generous PTO and holidays. Paid parental leave
for new parents. Competitive salary +
performance-based bonus opportunities. 401(k) retirement plan. Equity options -ownership stake in the company's success. Life and disability insurance. Additional perks: Free lunch, unlimited drinks/snacks. Physical Demands
Prolonged periods at a desk/computer. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, or lifting items up to 20 lbs.
Eligibility Requirement This role requires access to
export-controlled information . Candidates must meet the definition of a
U.S. Person
(U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident/green card holder, or protected status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
Join Us At Saronic, you'll help shape the future of
defense autonomy at sea , developing perception systems that power mission-critical autonomy. If you're passionate about applying computer vision and ML to real-world robotics in high-stakes environments, we'd love to hear from you.
