The Global Design Technology Studio is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the team. This role provides leadership and capability to connect data and outcomes from our designs to practitioners, projects, and clients through a highly creative and collaborative culture. You will demonstrate strong technical aptitude with traditional and cutting-edge methodologies to collect, manage, analyze, and assess large datasets to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement. Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Data team to develop, train and deploy ML classification algorithms leveraging data from data-rich design authoring tools. Utilize outcomes of trained models to explore trends and define insights aligned with business and client needs. Define and develop data pipelines in MS Azure to deliver data and insights via Web APIs into data visualization platforms and other Gensler IP, in partnership with Data Engineering colleagues. Collaborate with studio colleagues on strategies and innovative solutions to drive insights back into early design stages. Research opportunities and integrate additional datasets (e.g., geospatial, proprietary, operational data) as appropriate. Research emerging technologies in the AEC space and advise on build vs. buy decisions. Support R&D of future Strategic Insights initiatives. Support a growing data-driven design community of practitioners within the firm. Support and drive technical upskilling of project teams to implement sophisticated PowerBI solutions on projects. Contribute to the alignment of data and insights with the firm’s digital strategy and business goals. Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or Computer Science, with equivalent practical experience in Applied Data, Data Engineering, or Data Science. 15+ years of practical experience in statistical analysis, machine learning, and/or predictive modeling (AEC industry experience is a plus). Ability to work in a highly creative environment and collaborate on solutions to complex problems. Track record of staying current with best practices and new technology solutions. Proficiency with Azure services (Azure ML, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory) and data sources (SQL, NoSQL, Cosmos DB, JSON in Blob Storage, vector databases). Proficiency in SQL, Python and R (or equivalent) for data manipulation, analysis, and model development. Experience with various ML and generative AI technologies, evaluating performance and creating end-to-end ML pipelines in Azure; experience with LLMs and NLP. Understanding of data governance, data privacy regulations, and security best practices. Proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI) and visualization of ML/GenAI apps (Plotly, Seaborn, D3, Streamlit). Experience with Git and source control in a team environment. Experience with Microsoft Fabric is a plus. Experience with serverless compute services (e.g., Azure Functions) is a plus. Computer Vision experience is a plus; REST API service development and event-driven architectures are a plus. Azure or other cloud provider certifications are a plus. Life at Gensler
