Overview
An Oracle Data Center Technician will perform key roles to deliver core infrastructure and foundational technologies within the OCI data center environments. As a skilled technician working on a wide range of data center systems, you perform repairs, installations and monitoring for data center spaces. You will develop an understanding of all aspects of equipment that you support and data center operations, and continue to develop your skills to drive performance and improvements to current processes, including automation where applicable. You know when to act and can take direction, paying close attention to detail within the data center environment. This is a 24/7/365 on-site position in San Jose, CA, and includes day/night shifts, weekends and holidays, with occasional travel based on business requirements.
Responsibilities
Show professionalism in a 24/7/365 working environment and be flexible to work multiple shift schedules.
Receive/ship data center equipment and parts as needed; install, remove, and troubleshoot hardware in data center racks without disturbing other hardware and critical infrastructure.
Maintain asset inventory, update internal systems, and provide proper handover reports at shift change.
Be accessible for on-site emergencies as needed and participate in training aligned with corporate objectives.
Operate within Service Level Agreements (SLA) for assigned tickets and support small projects as directed by management.
Daily duties include hardware installation and decommissioning of servers, troubleshooting data center hardware and networking infrastructure, rack and stack, cabling, labeling, and patch panel management.
Monitor data center environments using monitoring tools and respond to tickets in a multi-team environment; document activities and adhere to SOPs.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in an IT environment.
Troubleshooting experience on servers, networking devices, and IT equipment.
Inventory management experience (ordering, receiving, shipping server parts).
Ability to prioritize work based on business needs and urgency; strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience taking on-call shifts and responding to critical events; ability to escalate to senior staff as needed.
