This engineering position requires strong technical and leadership skills to support the design and development of innovative, new products within the Cardiac and Vascular Group. The Principal Systems Engineer will apply knowledge of systems engineering and experience in working on complex multidisciplinary problems and will provide leadership of projects from early phase development to market release. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects. This position will be located in Mounds View, MN. The candidate will be responsible for leading system engineering activities with the goal to define, verify, and validate CRDN systems through the integration of sub-systems, features, and technologies. These activities include a) identification of customer needs, b) system definition by translating customer needs into engineering requirements, c) system architecture, partitioning, and development, d) technical risk management activities, e) system verification and validation, and f) system support and education. Systems Engineering activities typically involve trade-offs between risks, benefits, and performance. Systems Engineering activities are performed within the constraints of a complex regulatory environment, in partnership with development (software, firmware, hardware, mechanical engineering), research, clinical, regulatory, product planning, and marketing groups. A key focus of this role will be to Lead the systems development, characterization and integration testing for a next generation Renal Denervation RF ablation generator. Tasks include: Act as a team leader to manage major / moderately complex projects, involving delegation of work and review of work products. Plan and deploy an execution plan to the systems engineering team working on a next generation RF Generator. Lead the Systems engineering efforts through concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Serve as both the project manager and scrum master for the systems engineering efforts. Ensure all systems engineering deliverables have resource and execution plans. Ensure cross-functional alignment of all systems engineering owned deliverables. Accountable for team performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies. Provide systems engineering support for the planning and execution of Risk Analysis activities, such as FMEAs and Hazard Analyses, for systems, features, and implementations with the intent to eliminate or mitigate the risks in the identified scenarios. Lead integration planning and test execution across full system, including electrical, mechanical, and software allocations. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area. Establish and advocate for best practices and continuous improvement to mature Systems Engineering knowledge and processes. Champion consistent implementation of the Quality System across projects. Works independently under limited supervision to determine and develop approach to solutions. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower-level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems, or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation – while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills. Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the capability to make trade-offs between risks, benefits, and performance. Understanding and experience in design, development, and testing of embedded, electro-mechanical medical devices.
