Primary Function
The Sr Systems/Platform Engineer plays a key role in the delivery of GMI services. The focus of this role is to maintain virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and identity and access management (Active Directory, Entra ID), among other technologies. This role will be responsible for resolving production issues, working with managed customers to maintain a highly available environment and acting as an escalation point for engineering tasks.
They identify and resolve system performance and security issues, ensuring alignment with industry best practices. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, they integrate robust system solutions into operational and development processes. The Senior Systems Engineer stays current with emerging technologies and threats, proactively enhancing system reliability and security, while mentoring team members to foster technical growth.

Demonstrate and promote an understanding and commitment to the GMI culture and core values Providing guidance and mentorship: Providing guidance and mentorship to members of the engineering team. While this role does not have any direct reports, the Sr Engineer is expected to be the Subject Matter Expert for Systems and Platform engineering tasks. Collaborating with other teams: Working with Customer and GMI internal teams to obtain business requirements, assess solutions, implement technical solutions, and drive client success through innovation, experience, thought leadership Build credibility with clients by setting and executing against expectations in line with project scope Evaluate technology tools and develop knowledge to deliver assigned duties Maintain and proactively manage utilization target assigned by leadership Ensure accurate project time reporting and accountability to project tasks Speak fluently about GMI services and communicate business opportunities to the sales team Demonstrate thought leadership through the creation of white-papers, videos, marketing etc.

Work directly with the internal engagement lead and clients to review sold projects prerequisites, review and gather requirements, develop and deliver solutions Review expectations committed to during the sales process, understand and manage any changes in expectations and manage them throughout the engagement, communicate and resolve exceptions with leadership Continuously improve our work product and process through project execution experience

Virtualized Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions using platforms such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V Cloud Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions using platforms such as Azure and AWS. Identify and Access Management: Administer and optimize Active Directory, Entra ID, or other identity management systems, ensuring secure authentication, authorization, and group policy enforcement. Storage Solutions: Design, deploy, and manage storage solutions such as Nimble, VMware vSAN, and Cisco Hyperflex Backups Solutions: Design, deploy, and manage solutions such as Commvault and Veeam Automation: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment processes and enhance operational efficiency. Performance Monitoring: Monitor and optimize the performance of services. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and application development, to ensure seamless integration. Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure setups, and operational procedures. Review and consult on existing deployments for best practice standards. Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies: Keeping abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies. Provide subject matter expertise, guidance and recommendations to drive successful client outcomes; act as an escalation point where strong solution knowledge is needed across GMI
Qualifications
Education
A bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Engineering, MIS, CIS or related field is preferred, but not required. Relevant industry certifications a plus

Knowledge And Experience
A minimum of 7 years in relevant consulting/engineering roles Accountable self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders Demonstrated performance as an engineer and consultant managing complex projects in various enterprise environments Excellent time management, prioritization, problem solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced, agile environment Problem-solving and team management skills with a focus on delivering high-quality results. Must be located in the US and able to get fingerprint clearance to work with state entities.
