Northrop Grumman is hiring a Manager of Data Engineering to lead the Data Engineering team within the Insights & Intelligence (i2) organization. This role will report to the Director of Data Intelligence & Engineering. This role is based in Falls Church, VA and hybrid and/or remote options will be considered for the right candidate. Insights & Intelligence (i2) is reimagining decision making at Northrop Grumman. As part of our Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO), i2 works with all enterprise domains and businesses to drive our data, analytics & AI transformation. As a Senior Manager, you will lead a team of data engineers working across critical domains including Business Management, Business Development, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing. You will be responsible for powering business-critical data pipelines and scaling our data infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

Lead and grow a high-performing data engineering team that fosters a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. Oversee the end-to-end data lifecycle from ingestion to transformation and delivery in Databricks, ensuring reliability and scalability in alignment with business objectives. Lead the migration of data integrations, pipelines, architectures, and existing platforms to Databricks. Identify and resolve systemic workflow issues, proactively recommending and executing process improvements. Guide the adoption of best-in-class engineering practices, emphasizing robust testing, monitoring, security, and data quality enforcement. Set high standards for technical excellence, promoting clean architecture and code quality through mentorship and hands-on guidance. Collaborate with business stakeholders and analytics teams across various functions, including business management, business development, facilities, human resources, supply chain, and manufacturing. Continuously assess and recommend new tools and methodologies to enhance team efficiency and system performance. Basic Qualifications

Must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Must have a minimum 12 years of experience in data engineering or a related technical field, including experience managing scalable data platforms. Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in people management and leading technical teams. Proven experience in building scalable architectures, data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance. Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience using Databricks, Spark, Kafka, and other modern data platforms. Proven track record of leading technical strategy, making architectural decisions, and delivering impactful data systems. Experience in recruiting and developing senior engineering talent while fostering a high-performance, value-driven team culture. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence both technical and executive audiences. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or related field. Experience integrating data from enterprise systems such as SAP, Workday, ServiceNow, and Salesforce. Experience implementing data governance at scale within modern tools and technologies.
