This position is located in Poway, CA and is for a Project Engineer on the MQ-9B Japan Programs Engineering team. The role supports customer pursuits, identifies requirements, develops program plans, supports proposal activity, program execution, and sustainment activities for MQ-9B SeaGuardian UAS. The engineer determines technical objectives as a key team member and coordinates technical aspects from program inception to product delivery and sustainment. The position requires interface with international customers, foreign vendors, and internal program stakeholders. Responsibilities

Formulates plans and guides the development and implementation of engineering solutions including deployment, resource requirements, testing, documentation, integration, compliance and safety. Advises or directs the activities of professional staff for assigned project(s)/program(s) to achieve technical objectives. Coordinate with functional groups to meet program objectives while monitoring budget and schedule constraints. Serves as a key team member and may represent the organization, project, or program as a technical contact for the engineering team. Coordinate with engineering teams as trusted technical liaison, leading teams of communications, ground systems, and sensor payload SMEs to develop and resolve integration solutions. Determine annual and multi-year technical objectives for designated engineering systems or project(s)/program(s). Participate in internal and external technical program reviews. Plan for future applications of solutions based on IRAD activity and new developments in engineering technology. Travel up to 25% is required to support meetings which will occur both in the US and OCONUS. Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Performs other duties as assigned. Ensure compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained. Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Qualifications

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows: six or more years with a bachelor’s, four or more years with a master’s, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; broad application of those concepts; and expanding knowledge of related technical specialties. Ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them in evolving environments; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and determine the appropriate approach to provide solutions to complex problems. Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas. Capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and leading a team of moderately experienced professionals on single component projects. Able to work extended hours as required. A Professional Engineering License and original work published in professional engineering journals are desirable. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
