We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join a $3 billion dollar design-build infrastructure project in Chicago, IL, the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). You will support financial operations and ensure accurate reporting for large-scale projects. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and experienced in construction or infrastructure accounting. Responsibilities

Support financial schedules in line with corporate timelines Assist with month-end closing procedures Prepare account reconciliations (cash, liabilities, fixed assets, payroll accruals) and supporting sub-ledgers Contribute to budgets and forecasts preparation Process payments and maintain accurate records Review invoices for accuracy, validity, and appropriate approvals Maintain and update invoice registers for paid invoices Reconcile petty cash balances and manage replenishments/disbursements Assist with summary payment reports and other ad hoc financial reporting Perform general administrative support as needed for office activities Monitor and track budgets and forecasts Liaise with banks on payment transfers Support tax filings and other required compliance filings Ensure financial statements and records comply with laws and regulations Maintain and reconcile fixed assets and inventory records, including appraisals and valuations Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and related reports for accuracy and compliance Identify opportunities to reduce costs, enhance revenues, and improve profitability Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s accounting, Finance, or Commerce Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within the construction or infrastructure industry (large projects preferred) Strong knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, and procedures Ability to work independently and manage priorities under deadlines Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Knowledge of project structures within a client/consultant environment Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company contributions Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays Parental leave Life and disability insurance Professional development and training opportunities Employee wellness programs Seniority level
