VP, Tax

to join our team onsite in Downtown Orlando, FL. This role will manage tax return compliance requirements for all company entities. Manage annual REIT E&P calculation and reporting process. Provide guidance to Acquisitions, Asset Management and Senior Management to ensure that investments, acquisitions, dispositions and operations of the REIT and related entities are properly structured to comply with REIT provisions while maintaining close to 100% taxable income payout ratio. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Manage all aspects of the company’s tax compliance obligations including preparation and/or review of over 300 tax returns, extensions, estimates and tax qualifications Manage and coordinate with outside tax consultants on the preparation of tax returns, research and various tax strategies including Puerto Rico compliance Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax obligations Project Earnings & Profits calculation and Taxable income, report results to the CFO Project Section 163(j) (interest expense) limitation and report to the CFO Utilize tools such as Sec 1031 Like-kind Exchange and Sec 1033 Involuntary Conversions to manage the projected (i) Earnings & Profits, (ii) Taxable Income and (iii) Interest expense deduction Manage year-end Earnings & Profits calculation and reporting of dividend split to external parties Supervise the training, management, professional development and evaluation of direct reports Manage preparation and review of the GAAP income tax provision work papers and income tax footnote disclosure in SEC filings 10Q/10K. Participate in SEC filings Disclosure Committee Manage REIT compliance testing including REIT Qualification Checklist to ensure REIT status is maintained Analyze property sales for necessity/potential of Sec 1031 Like-kind Exchange to avoid prohibited REIT transactions and to manage taxable income Review and comment on internal and external documents for capital market transactions Comprehensive knowledge of state and local tax (SALT) planning / strategies for all 50 states, numerous local jurisdictions (city, county, school district) and Puerto Rico Preparation of annual state and local income tax and franchise tax expense accruals and budget Maintain documentation of compliance with REIT shareholder demand letter requirements Optimize entity structure to minimize complexity while meeting business needs Participate in transaction analysis and planning Manage preparation and review of ASC 740-10 memorandum Update and monitor internal controls for tax functions, in compliance with SOX, and adjust process and procedures as necessary Lead tax audits, including planning and defense Perform/supervise tax research projects Manage preparation/review of special projects Maintain working relationship with SVP of Accounting, Legal Department, Acquisitions Department and Senior Management Assist with tax research of payroll/benefit matters as necessary including review of 401(k) and benefit plan tax filings CORE COMPETENCIES Initiative Problem Solving/Analytical skills Organization and Time Management Attention to details Decision Making ability Interpersonal/Written communication skills Developing Relationships Planning Self-motivated and proactive Supervisory Responsibilities This job does have supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, and 7+ years related functional and managerial/leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of US GAAP. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CPA required
