Senior Financial Analyst - Energy & Strategic Initiatives
to join our Asset Management Finance team. Reporting directly to the
Sr. Director of Asset Management Finance , this role will be instrumental in supporting our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a blend of advanced financial acumen, technical capability, and strategic vision, with a passion for analyzing complex projects such as solar initiatives and other capital investments.
Responsibilities
Solar Model Ownership & Enhancement:
Take full responsibility for the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of underwriting models for solar projects. Ensure all models reflect the latest assumptions, market dynamics, and internal investment criteria, providing reliable and timely analyses to guide informed investment decisions.
Pro Forma & Post-Mortem Analysis:
Lead comprehensive financial analyses for both prospective (pro forma) and completed (post-mortem) solar initiatives as well as other strategic projects. Provide actionable insights to leadership, enabling evaluation of project performance, identification of optimization opportunities, and strategic capital deployment.
Decision-Making Tools & Data Visualization:
Collaborate closely with the Data Analytics team to design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and other reporting solutions that empower decision-makers. Leverage both technical and financial skills to ensure tools are user-friendly, informative, and aligned with business objectives.
Utility Spend Analysis & Cost Efficiency:
Partner with the Energy team to conduct deep-dive analyses of Public Storage’s utility expenditures. Identify key trends, anomalies, and potential cost-saving opportunities, supporting initiatives that drive operational efficiency and sustainability.
Agile Analytical Support:
Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in managing ad hoc analytical requests from leadership and cross-functional partners. Balance multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and delivering actionable recommendations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
Minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, investment modeling, or strategic planning, preferably within the energy, utilities, or real estate sectors.
Expertise in building and enhancing complex financial models, preferably with a background in renewable energy or solar project underwriting.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling software; experience with Tableau or similar data visualization platforms is highly desired.
Proven ability to analyze large datasets, identify key trends, and develop actionable insights.
Experience with utility cost management, capital allocation, or energy efficiency initiatives is highly valued.
Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex models and analyses into concise, actionable recommendations for leadership.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and ad hoc requests in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
Strong collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with data analytics, operations, and project management teams.
Self-drive, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
