Role Overview

The following responsibilities and qualifications describe the expectations for a Financial Advisor at Northern Trust:

Consult with clients to identify goals, objectives, and appetite for risk, and provide solutions and strategies aimed at achieving those goals.

Work in a team environment to identify and develop specific clients and prospects aligned with Northern target profiles.

Utilize broad knowledge of investment markets and terminology to inform and educate clients and partners about strategies, including concentrated positions.

Collaborate with NTSI traders to ensure excellence in execution.

Participate in team discussions to develop and implement best-in-class investment strategies to maximize sales efforts.

Document client notes/interactions in Salesforce to keep the advisory team informed and up to date.

Monitor market information sources to make timely strategy decisions for clients and partners.

Participate in ongoing training and meetings; set personal sales goals and business plans with management based on experience and product knowledge.

Provide the highest level of client service as a top priority.

Operate independently with in-depth knowledge of the business unit/function.

Act as a subject-matter expert, providing comprehensive consulting and leadership at a high technical level.

Engage in activities large in scope, cross-functional, and technically challenging; balance operational execution with strategic development of business function activities.

Conduct preliminary analysis and interact directly with committees and/or management; strategically develop, implement, and administer programs within functional areas.

Strong sales, communication, and group presentation skills; individual must be goal-driven and self-motivated; some travel may be required.

Experience: Minimum 5+ years of securities industry and sales experience.

Must have broad-based knowledge of all securities products; options expertise preferred.

Required Securities licenses: Series 7, 66 (or 63/65).

Professional designation preferred (CFP).

Salary Range

$109,940 - 186,760 USD

Salary range is a good-faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. A discretionary bonus program may include an equity component.
