Overview
OES Equipment, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is a fast-paced supply and rental equipment company in the construction industry. We’re looking for an experienced professional to build and lead a nationwide risk program for a multi-branch, heavy equipment rental business. This role will oversee a small team, with the potential to expand. They will guide strategic initiatives across insurance placement, claims strategy, contractual risk transfer, and customer COI compliance—reducing frequency and severity of losses while enabling safe, profitable growth. Responsibilities
Progressive Leadership Foster collaboration and accountability across team members to ensure cohesive execution of risk mitigation strategies. Provide coaching and direction to a cross-functional risk team including contract coordination, insurance management, and legal compliance. Insurance, Claims & Recovery Support annual renewals: exposure data, SOVs, unit schedules, loss runs, market strategy, broker/carrier negotiations, and budgeting. Support end-to-end claims (employee, auto, GL, property/equipment): intake, investigation, reserves, light-duty/RTW, and litigation strategy. Support subrogation and recovery (e.g., equipment damage on rent, third-party at-fault crashes) and set branch-level recovery targets. Support RMIS and claim dashboards; ensure timely incident reporting and root-cause corrective actions. Contractual Risk Transfer & COIs Review rental agreements, master service agreements, vendor contracts, leases, and facility contracts for indemnity, limits, and additional insured language. Administer COI collection and compliance for customers and vendors; manage damage waiver/RPP terms and alignment with policy language. Create playbooks and fallback positions for Sales, Credit, and Branch Ops. Data, Reporting & Culture Partner with leadership, project teams, and stakeholders to safeguard business operations, support decision-making, and drive a culture of proactive risk awareness. Build monthly risk dashboards (frequency, severity, loss ratio, EMR, TRIR, CSA, recovery rate, near misses) with branch and regional roll-ups. Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on contract interpretation and implications for rental operations. Build and implement a business strategy that operates within the parameters of Owner contracts, ensuring compliance while maximizing profitability. Collaborate with legal counsel and contract coordinators to ensure rental terms are clearly defined and aligned with operational capabilities. Review Prime contracts between DPR and project owners to identify and address rental-related clauses, obligations, and risk exposures. Champion integration efforts between the DPR Family of Companies, advocating and promoting continued education and consideration for OES terms and best practices for partnership. Serve in a consulting capacity to drive consistency across Mega Project plans and contracting methods. Perform additional responsibilities and contribute to special projects and initiatives as needed to advance business objectives. Required Skills and Abilities
Data fluency (Excel/Sheets; BI tools a plus) and the ability to turn trends into action plans. Strong negotiation and vendor management (brokers, carriers, TPAs, counsel, telematics). Clear, concise communicator who can influence branch teams and executives. Natural relationship-builder with a passion for solving problems and helping people. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to simplify technical concepts for non-experts. Enthusiastic and patient with a customer-service mindset and a high degree of accountability. Highly motivated with an entrepreneurial attitude and ability to work independently. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Safety, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5–8+ years in risk management, insurance, safety, or claims—ideally in equipment rental, construction, supply chain, or transportation. Construction supply and equipment industry knowledge preferred. Experience with RentalMan (Wynne Software) is a plus. Knowledge of Coupa (P2P software) is a plus. Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed when handling demonstration or rental equipment. Travel to group face to face meetings is expected (~10%).
