The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission is an award-winning organization with over 5,000 employees that administers over 52,000 acres of stream valley parks, large regional parks, neighborhood parks, and park-school recreation areas throughout Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Under general supervision, the Maryland–National Capital Park & Planning Commission seeks a Park Manager to support and enhance Area Maintenance across Northern Region park facilities. You will assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising park maintenance operations, ensuring turf, athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, stormwater facilities, and landscaped areas are safe, well-maintained, and welcoming. Key Responsibilities

Assist in developing and overseeing seasonal and weekly maintenance schedules for turf, athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, stormwater facilities, and landscaped areas. Perform regular inspections to verify adherence to maintenance standards and document quality metrics. Coordinate cross-training of maintenance staff so team members can operate a range of equipment and cover specialized tasks as needed. Assign tasks to maintenance staff; monitor attendance, approve timecards, and document performance. Provide hands-on coaching in equipment operation, safety procedures, and environmental compliance. Facilitate performance reviews and career development planning to help staff set goals, recognize achievements, and identify training needs. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Park Management, Park Administration, Outdoor Recreation, Natural Science, Physical Science or any related field. One (1) year of park management experience that includes leadership of staff. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total five (5) years.
