Maintains a thorough knowledge of all Newburyport Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and regulatory/compliance issues related to daily job functions. Deepens relationships with new and existing customers by identifying financial needs and making referrals to other colleagues/departments to ensure customer needs are met. Meets and often exceeds performance goals and participates in bank-wide incentive programs and business development initiatives. Processes a variety of transactions with accuracy, including cash/receipts, loan payments, deposits, logs, mail deposits, and wire documentation. Issues money orders/official checks, processes coin, orders checks per bank policies, and assesses fees for services. Verifies transactions, places holds when appropriate, and balances cash drawer at period end to ensure compliance. Opens new Consumer and Business accounts, Certificates of Deposit, and other bank products; answers customer questions and ensures proper paperwork is completed and entered in the system. Assists with ATM issues and daily ATM balancing procedures. Maintains vault policies, performs vault duties, oversees drawer limits, and conducts cash verifications for currency in/out of vault; prepares and verifies currency shipments. Performs security functions by opening/closing bank and vault, ensuring overall safety of bank grounds. Maintains customer confidentiality and retention of bank documents in accordance with bank policies. Serves as a mentor for Relationship Bankers in training until mastery of job function is achieved. Assists Sales and Services Manager with weekly and monthly audit procedures. Exerts discretion when overriding transactions for Relationship Bankers. Oversees branch operations and supervises in absence of Sales & Service Manager, including opening and closing the bank office. Operates effectively in a cross-trained environment. Customer Focus

Education and Experience

Minimum of high school education or equivalent plus 3+ years of retail or customer service experience, preferably in teller or customer service roles, or equivalent combination. Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and internet-based applications. Basic math skills and cash handling aptitude. Strong customer service aptitude, with clear verbal and written communication; detail-oriented and organized. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.
