Overview
Director – US Cost Management. This Director – Cost Manager is a key member of the TD US Finance Team. The role is a newly created position focused on cost management to support profitability, efficiency, and long-term growth.

Hours: 40 per week
Job Description This role is responsible for strategic cost management, planning, analysis, and insights to drive cost efficiency and inform management decisions. The position requires collaboration with partners to ensure accurate cost reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and to provide leadership in cost control initiatives.
Responsibilities
Strategic: Support US business performance targets and partner on financial planning & forecasting, reporting, and Plan as it relates to Cost (expense) lines in the chart of accounts. Provide analytics to drive segment discussions and prepare materials for the TDS Senior Executive Team and external storytelling. Compile monthly expense analytics and commentary for US Region Board reporting. Coordinate with partners to ensure proper analysis, challenge, and oversight of regional reporting. Analyze booking models and their impact on business line reporting. Provide business advisory and ad hoc support. Proactively identify cost opportunities, analyze spend components, and offer options to improve efficiencies and savings. Narrate the financial cost story in relation to strategic priorities and accomplishments to enable informed decisions and improved efficiency.
Planning, Analysis, and Insights: Establish cost management targets through performance measurement, reporting, and metrics. Contribute to budgeting and forecasting accuracy; monitor actual vs forecasted costs and flag variances. Lead finance change projects to improve cost management systems and processes. Manage performance measurements, insights, and stakeholder relationships (internal and external). Analyze financial data, prepare cost variance reports, and recommend corrective actions. Provide training on cost control procedures and monitor market trends and pricing strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve targets while managing costs.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of finance experience at a global financial institution
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
Client service skills with the ability to partner with senior and line managers on cost management
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, solid judgment, and the ability to evaluate complex regulatory business issues
Advanced project management skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong time management and planning
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and collaborate with various teams
Relationship-building skills with regulators and business/functional partners
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
