Base pay range

$87,900.00/yr - $102,000.00/yr

Responsibilities Day-to-Day Growing Management: Manage, with hands-on involvement, all farming activities, including irrigation system installation (drip for substrate and pipe and spray for soil), land prep, planting, nutrient management, pesticide applications, disease management, pollination, pruning, plant rotation and harvesting.

Collaborate with harvest, operations (non-harvest) and production services for respective services as needed.

Manage the organic and/or conventional pesticide management program in soil and/or substrate in coordination with the Pesticide Control Adviser; document application and results.

Develop and optimize plant health through organic and/or conventional programs; test and analyze results when using growth media; document actions.

Comply with labor laws, audits, food safety, company policy and worker safety.

Learn and apply Driscoll’s pathology knowledge in developing Reiter’s organic program.

People Management:

Identify, source, and hire labor; may train and supervise harvest and/or non-harvest personnel.

Operations:

Manage operating budgets; assist in defining capital budget needs; manage costs and deliver expected profitability; implement production practices and collaborate with internal and external resources for knowledge sharing.

Production:

Contribute to production data and crop information; participate in weekly and monthly crop statement reviews; coordinate cold storage and field trials.

Irrigation Systems:

Substrate: assist in design and installation of automation, monitoring systems, and irrigation infrastructure; Soil: assist in design and installation of traditional irrigation systems.

Horticultural Trials:

Install, maintain, and evaluate trials; report results and drive adoption; support expansion of agronomy models.

Other duties:

Scientific analyses, microbial program support, and related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications Education : Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences required for Agronomy career track; High School diploma or equivalent with minimum 5 years’ experience also acceptable.

Field of Education : Agricultural Sciences; minimum 5 years’ of experience managing production agriculture with direct berry crop farming experience.

Experience : Minimum 5 years in production agriculture; berry experience preferred.

Licenses : Valid driver’s license suitable for insurability.

Travel : Ability to travel 5–10% of the time (domestic and international). Percentage distribution: majority on farm with teams; some administrative and travel time.
