Principal/Sr Principal Technical Services Project Manager (VSET) at Northrop Grumman, located in Promontory, UT. Role Description & Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Test Engineering Senior Manager, lead all activities associated with a product family within the value stream. The VSET Lead is responsible for ownership and accountability of the value stream element including acceptance of requirements, product and process design, planning, manufacture, inspection, testing and delivery to the downstream customer to meet cost and schedule requirements. Staff the team in collaboration with functional organizations (e.g., design, S&MA, process engineering, supply chain, operations) and manage resources within a matrix organization. Ensure total team performance and coordinate with the program office and plant functions to achieve program and company goals. Focus on design, manufacture and testing of a defect-free, high-value product and apply lessons learned to multiple programs and processes. All design, reliability, safety, performance, cost and schedule requirements The safety of personnel, facilities and product through the lifecycle Produced and procured designs, processes, suppliers, materials, facilities, inspection plans, tooling, etc. Managing financial performance of the value stream and its functional organizations, including change requests for submittal to the Program Office Initiate and lead value enhancement and waste elimination efforts using lean principles Collaborate with other VSET leaders to maintain strong communication and collaboration Develop and manage overall project ownership across support organizations and create schedules and plans Secret security clearance must be possessed or be obtainable Education/Experience Requirements
Basic Qualifications for a level 3 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (aerospace, chemical, electrical, mechanical, material sciences engineering, or physics) required. An advanced degree in engineering is preferred. BS with 5 years’ experience MS with 3 years’ experience Experience in engineering, program management, production, safety and/or mission assurance roles where a well-rounded background and understanding of the product lifecycle are demonstrated. Basic Qualifications for a level 4 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (aerospace, chemical, electrical, mechanical, material sciences engineering, or physics) required. An advanced degree in engineering is preferred. BS with 8 years’ experience MS with 6 years’ experience Experience in engineering, program management, production, safety and/or mission assurance roles with a well-rounded background and understanding of the business and product lifecycle.
