Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an entry-level Transportation Engineer in our Chicago, Crystal Lake, Naperville, Bannockburn, or Mokena, IL office. This position will primarily consist of design and construction engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. This team-oriented role involves collaborating with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices. What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job
Design roadway, underground utility, and infrastructure improvements using Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer. Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies. Provide general civil engineering services for municipal, county, and state clients. Prepare engineering plans and specifications using IDOT Standards. Process Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients. Assist with construction engineering services for municipal, county, and state clients. Support project engineers and managers with a wide range of project-delivery tasks. Education
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering Must-haves, What You Will Bring
Relevant internship/co-op experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects. Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation). Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities. Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills. Work within a team-first culture that encourages individual development and goal achievement. Preferred Qualifications
Anticipated FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification. Knowledge of designing roadway and underground improvements with Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer. Experience with Geopak. Compensation
The pay range for this role is $74,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
