General Purpose Responsible for the management and supervision of all areas assigned by the Store Manager, following policies regarding Customers, Associates and merchandising. Learn all phases of Store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager leads the entire operation to meet Company standards and best practices.

Essential Functions General Operating Requirements

Leads all Company Best Practices and maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working.

Assists in the analysis of Store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall Store performance.

Communicates any variances to Company standards to the Store Manager.

Ensures proper scheduling of Associates to meet business objectives.

Ensures compliance with all State, Local and Federal regulations.

Ensures scheduling and completion of all Associate cleaning tasks throughout the store, including restrooms.

Accepts special assignments as directed by Leadership.

Responsible for payroll administration including daily punch edits, Associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and Payroll reporting as needed.

Organizational Development

Assists in recruiting, hiring, training and developing non-exempt Associates.

Ensures compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.

Assists with Associate relations issues by communicating incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager as needed.

Expense Control

Assists in managing and continuously monitoring actual expenditures to be within budget.

Controls payroll hours to plan, as the primary controllable expense, and adjusts to current business trends.

Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment

Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all tasks.

Ensure all Associates understand and can execute emergency operating procedures.

Adhere to Company safety policies to protect Associates and Customers.

Assist in monthly safety meetings.

Customer Service

Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.

Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates via Company programs.

Execute Customer service programs and Merchandise Presentation through training and supervision.

Supervise and coach Retail Associates in providing efficient and friendly service at registers, service desk, fitting rooms, and sales floor.

Personal and Store Brand

Represent and support the Company brand at all times.

Maintain a professional appearance per Dress Code and reinforce it at all times.

Manage Store to maintain a clean, neat, easy-to-shop environment.

Maintain high housekeeping standards with the help of maintenance personnel and Associates.

Ensure scheduling and completion of all Associate cleaning tasks, including restrooms.

Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing

Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards through supervision.

Present and organize merchandise according to Company merchandising guidelines.

Urgently manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within Company timeframes.

Loss Prevention

Assist in training Associates on Loss Prevention awareness and store shortage goals.

Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information and merchandise.

Comply with Loss Prevention programs and maintain a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.

Assist in leading annual inventory processes and monitor stock policies and systems.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

Two or more years of Store or Assistant Store Manager experience in a retail environment.

Ability to supervise, motivate and communicate positively to Store Associates at all levels.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, provide direction and follow through to completion.

Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment.

Maintain high quality of Customer service.

Fluency in English.

Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.

Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.

Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.

Ability to lift more than 25 lbs occasionally.

Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervision of all non-exempt Associates.

Compensation and Benefits The base pay range for this role is $18.31 - $24.61, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, location, and other factors. Other rewards vary by position and location. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life, disability, retail associate discounts and more, with specific eligibility based on employment type and location. Eligible full-time Associates may receive bonuses based on individual and business performance.
