Vice President of Development

Reports To : Chief Operating Officer Live Action, a leader in the pro-life movement, is seeking an experienced VP of Development to lead our fundraising efforts. The role involves overseeing a team focused on cultivating supporters and managing relationships across various platforms. The ideal candidate is a seasoned manager and storyteller, committed to Live Action’s mission, with potential for growth within our dynamic team. The position is based in Orange County, CA, or Washington, DC, with remote candidates considered. Responsibilities include: Overseeing fundraising generating over $18MM annually. Managing the development team and setting organizational goals. Handling digital, direct mail, major gifts, foundation, and planned giving fundraising. Developing development strategies with KPIs. Reporting on department status and implementing proactive measures. Managing donor communications and cultivating key donors, including six and seven-figure asks. Overseeing donor events such as the Annual Live Action Gala. Developing and managing the development department budget with approval from the Executive Team. Enhancing donor retention, acquisition, and giving levels. Managing vendors and contractors related to development activities. Recruiting, hiring, and training development staff. Requirements : 7-10+ years of leadership in fundraising with a proven record. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Experience managing major donor portfolios and securing six-figure donations. Proven collaboration with executives and board members. Creative thinking with marketing skills. Excellent communication skills. Experience with donor databases like Virtuous. Proficiency in business software (Adobe, Microsoft Office, etc.). HubSpot and Crescendo experience is a plus. Strong time-management and interpersonal skills. Diplomatic, judicious, and discreet in dealings. Entrepreneurial attitude and solutions-oriented mindset.
