Overview
The
Utilities GIS and Asset Management (Technician, Senior)
position is responsible for reviewing completed work orders to ensure data quality and accuracy. The role includes creating, editing, and maintaining
Lee County Utilities’
water, wastewater, reclaimed, and raw water infrastructure data within a Geographic Information System (GIS). In addition, this position performs field data collection using GPS technology to capture, verify, and update utility infrastructure for integration into the GIS.
Responsibilities
Review and audit completed work orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with data standards.
Verify asset associations within work orders and resolve discrepancies through clarification with field or operations staff.
Provide feedback to work groups to ensure all necessary information is captured and documented on completed work orders.
Create, edit, and maintain GIS data for water, wastewater, reclaimed, and raw water infrastructure.
Perform field data collection using GPS equipment to capture new or modified utility assets.
Integrate GPS-collected data into the enterprise GIS with appropriate accuracy standards.
Update spatial and tabular data to reflect infrastructure changes documented through work orders.
Ensure data integrity by performing systematic quality control and applying established GIS and asset management standards.
Contribute to the further development and refinement of GIS and asset management standards, workflows, and best practices.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to support accurate asset management records.
Generate maps, reports, and queries to support analysis and decision-making as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
High School graduation or GED
Experience:
Four (4) years of experience with GIS data editing, asset management systems, or utility mapping.
Preferred Experience:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) Certification.
Familiarity with utility infrastructure (water, wastewater, reclaimed water, or raw water).
Experience reviewing or interpreting utility design, as-built, or record drawings.
Driver's License:
Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required
Experience with Esri ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or equivalent).
Experience with GPS data collection equipment and related software.
Schedule The workdays and hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
