Position Summary

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Phoenix Children’s in Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking a pediatric hematologist/oncologist to serve as Associate Division Chief - Director of Clinical Operations. The candidate will work with the CCBD Division Chair and Administrative Director to lead and develop the clinical-operational and programmatic components of the CCBD. The ideal candidate is mid-career or senior with broad clinical and leadership experience in pediatric hematology/oncology. The CCBD at Phoenix Children's is one of the largest pediatric programs in the Southwestern US. The Center sees an average of 390 new oncology and 1,800 new hematology patients per year, includes a FACT accredited Cellular Therapy program with 45-55 BMT/Immunotherapy procedures annually, and features a hematology/oncology floor with 48 single patient rooms including a HEPA-filtered wing of 16 rooms for immune-deficient patients. The CCBD has active clinical and laboratory research programs in oncology, neuro-oncology, survivorship, hemophilia, sickle cell disease and phase I/II investigational drug development. Patients are cared for on the main campus and two satellite settings, with a satellite hospital planned within 1-2 years. New development includes an MIBG facility and a cell therapy laboratory for clinical products and experimental cellular therapies. Responsibilities

Oversee and solve problems related to overall Clinical Quality of Care within the CCBD Supervise the Inpatient and Outpatient Medical Directors Monitor and improve patient safety; guide new projects and program development Improve patient and staff workflow; oversee CPOE development and clinical practice expansion Participate in the Quality Committee and Infection Control management within CCBD, in concert with the hospital Manage CCBD partnerships within Phoenix Children’s (e.g., Palliative Medicine, PICU, ID, inpatient nursing) Provider Credentialing and Recruitment Divisional oversight of patient care services, including direct inpatient and outpatient care and subspecialty consultations Leadership of medical education programs and activities; supervision of trainees and allied health professionals Participation in teaching rounds, conferences, and continued education; support division research and programmatic growth Represent Phoenix Children’s in the professional community and public settings Professionalism: maintain courtesy, dignity and respect; promote safe, cooperative health care environment Support the mission, vision and values of Phoenix Children’s Other activities: liaison to professional community, may conduct teaching rounds outside Phoenix Children’s as appropriate Essential skills: effective communication, after-hours call responsibilities, regular work hours Position Duties

Provide direct inpatient and outpatient patient care; subspecialty consultations and follow-ups Deliver diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures; participate in urgent/emergency care as needed Promote patient and family-centered care; support patient satisfaction goals Adhere to divisional patient safety and quality standards; practice evidence-based medicine Position Qualifications
