Position: Director of School Operations Reports To: Network Director of School Operations Position Type: 12- Month We are a network serving more than 3,300 scholars in six schools across Jackson, Mississippi and Nashville, Tennessee. We are looking for a determined Director of School Operations at the elementary, middle, or high school level to join our team in Nashville, TN for the 2025-26 school year. Candidates should share our belief that all children can achieve at high levels and change the world. What You’ll Do
At RePublic, school-based operations teams ensure staff can focus on teaching and learning. The Director of School Operations is the operational leader of the school, reporting to the Principal, and is responsible for creating and maintaining non-instructional systems that enable the school to run smoothly and support strong instruction. Key responsibilities include acting as the business lead for the school’s finances, state and federal reporting, risk management, facilities planning and maintenance, transportation, technology, vendor relationships, student enrollment data, and staff compliance. The Director works with the school’s Operations Team to plan, organize, execute, document, and communicate effectively. Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership + Management
Develop systems and procedures to ensure seamless execution of all school operations each day, including food provision, student transportation (arrival and dismissal), emergency plans, facility maintenance, and inventory (technology, books, supplies). Directly manage and coach a 2-3 person operations team at the school (full-time and any part-time staff or Operations fellows). Provide logistical support for major student assessments and school-wide or off-site events (field trips, Family Nights, New Student Orientations). Coach the school-level team to operational excellence, ensuring systems are implemented with fidelity and providing feedback when needed. Serve as a key external-facing representative of the school to families and the community to build buy-in around the school’s vision and approach.
Student Enrollment, Data + Compliance
Manage the school registration process and own student recruitment activities (with network team support) to ensure full enrollment; serve as expert on the student information system and ensure data accuracy. Support implementation of school schedules and ensure compliance with local/state reporting requirements.
School-level Finances and Human Resources
Participate in monthly budget meetings to review variances and monitor school spending. Manage purchasing processes: systems for item requests, vendor orders, delivery tracking, and coding/invoicing to the network team. Partner with the network operations team to onboard new hires and ensure staff meet compliance and certification requirements.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree; a graduate degree in a related field is preferred. 1-2 years of leadership experience directly managing and coaching adults. 3-5 years of teaching experience in K-12 with a track record of achievement or related K-12 experience preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Google Office. Proficiency and experience in budget management and oversight preferred. Seniority level
